When you arrive at the  end of this self-guided tour\, take the opportunity for some seasonal shopping in the Duxbury Rural and  Historical Society holiday store. It all begins on Friday December 13th with a preview thank you party from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for current members of the society – your asked to RSVP to this free event on the website..  All are welcome to come and enjoy the Decade of Duxbury tour on Saturday December 14th and Sunday December 15th\, from 12 to 4pm. There is no advance registration required on these days\, and the cost is just $10 paid at the door.

DESCRIPTION:The Duxbury Rural & Historical Society invites you to attend a lecture on The US Sanitary Commission and Civil War Veterans\, a presentation by Dr. Patrick Browne.   \nDr. Browne will focus primarily on Frederick N Knapp’s development of the Special Relief Department within the US Sanitary Commission\, and how this department helped to quell a humanitarian crisis of discharged Union soldiers too injured or incapacitated to care for themselves by providing them support and care. The lecture will be held on Thursday\, November 14th at 5:00 PM at the Drew Archival Library located at 147 St. George Street.  Please register ahead of time through the Duxbury Rural & Historical Society website.

SUMMARY:Historic Duxbury House Tour -  by Duxbury Rural and Historical Society
DESCRIPTION:The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society is inviting you to take a stroll back in time! The Historic Duxbury House Tour is a unique opportunity to tour the historic homes and grounds of five private residents\, with each house stemming from a distinct era in the history of Duxbury.  A detailed brochure will be given to each attendee with information about the history of these houses and the souls that lived within these homes’ walls. There will also be objects on display from the DRHS collection\, adding further nuance to the stories of these historical domiciles. All proceeds gained from this special tour will go towards the restoration\, maintenance and improvements of Duxbury Rural and Historical Society properties. This event takes place On Friday September 27th\, from 10am to 2pm\, Tickets must be acquired in advance and can be purchased at duxburyhistory.org
