They’d also likely warn of the unforeseen issues and immense challenges found in restoration projects. On Thursday October 10th\, the Pilgrim Hall Speaker Series welcomes Lee McColgan\, author of the book A House Restored: The Tragedies and Triumphs of Saving a New England Colonial. In an engaging two-hour presentation\, he will share his personal journey – a house restoration project   that changed the course of his life\, prompting him to leave his job in finance to become a specialist in historical restoration contracting\, preserving historic buildings\, houses and properties across all time periods.  His book is a memoir steeped in history\, chronicling the painstaking but ultimately rewarding restoration of his 300-year-old South Shore home. The presentation is from 6pm to 8pm at the Pilgrim Hall Museum at 75 Court Street in Plymouth. Tickets are $10 for non-members\, $5 for members and free to students with a valid ID.

She has performed internationally in Europe and the United States in solo and chamber settings\, lives in Cape Cod and is currently Music Director at the First United Methodist Church in Chatham.  Also featured will be flutist Carl Gutowski\, who has been performing in solo and chamber music settings for over 30 years–including recent performances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall\, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod; the Cape Cod Museum of Art; and the National Opera Center in New York. Kicking off at Nelson Park at 10:00 AM\, you will be able to walk along the trail while learning about all the elements and wildlife that surround you as you also follow the story of Pete the badger\, whose need for neatness causes a chain reaction of environmental consequences. StoryWalk will be up until Monday\, November 4th. The trail is both stroller and wheelchair friendly!  \nThis Story Walk project is a partnership between Plymouth Public Library\, Plymouth Open Space Committee\, Sustainable Plymouth and Plymouth’s Department of Energy and Environment.

The special kids’ area will offer crafts and activities for the littles\, and the chance to help plant 2025’s garlic harvest in the Children’s Garden. Shop Local artisans and crafters\, whose wares include specialty items from handmade soap to honey\, and quilted goods to glass art. The music stage will be lit up with live music from artists Tyler Levs\, Lainey Dionne and Friends\, Mark T. Small and The Valerie Baretto Band. The Harvest Fair runs from 10:00AM to 4:00 PM –   Presale tickets are available now – all proceeds go to support the Farm. Soule Homestead is at 46 Soule Street in Middleborough.
