SUMMARY:Hometown Haunts and Hops Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Hometown Haunts and Hops Film Festival will be an eerie evening of entertainment centered around the main attraction- a screening of the spooktacular 2013 cult-classic WNUF Halloween Special. Shot mockumentary style and set in the 80’s\, it follows an investigative journalist reporting on a house that was the scene of a grisly murder and is rumored to be haunted. There will be a meet and greet with the film’s director Chris LaMartina\, giving fans of the film a rare opportunity to ask questions about this unique underground film\, which he calls “a love letter to VHS and public access TV.” Complimenting this fright-filled feature will be a creepily curated selection of bone-chilling short horror films from both emerging and seasoned filmmakers.   \nThe Hometown Haunts and Hope Film Festival starts at 6pm\, at the The John Carver Inn in Plymouth. The ticket price of $25 covers all the screenings and special spooky surprises throughout the night .

SUMMARY:Timeless Tales Children's Lit Book Club at Duxbury Senior Center
DESCRIPTION:Classic children’s books become timeless for good reason: while the words may be simple\, the more complex truths and universal themes illuminate our young minds and continue to nourish our thinking throughout our lives. As George Bernard Shaw implored “Make it a rule never to give a child a book you would not read yourself.” To that end\, the Duxbury Senior Center has established the Timeless Tales Children’s Lit Bookclub. The next group meets on September 10th from 11 to 12pm\, when Shelly Sommers\, a former middle school librarian and writing teacher\, will facilitate a discussion around the enduring tale of adolescence\, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. The group will meet in the Senior Center’s Weyerhaeuser Room. Visit the center’s website to register.

SUMMARY:Plymouth Pride/NOH8 Photo Shoot Event
DESCRIPTION:The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in 2008\, in direct response to legislation intending to ban marriage equality.  Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths\, symbolizing their voices being silenced\, with “NOH8” painted on one cheek in protest.  \nThe NOH8 Campaign has grown from a grassroots groundswell into a charitable organization whose mission is to fight for marriage\, gender and human equality through education\, advocacy\, social media\, and visual protest. NOH8 has hosted photo shoots in 48 of the 50 states in the US\, and 20 countries around the world\, and has captured over 56\,000 faces. \nSo– are YOU ready to lend your look to the fight for equal rights? Plymouth Pride is hosting celebrity photographer and NOH8 co-founder Adam Bouska for a NOH8 campaign photo shoot in Plymouth on Sunday September 8th\, from 2pm to 4pm at Hotel 1620 in Plymouth Harbor. The cost for a solo photo is $40 and for couples or groups\, just $25 per person. No reservations are needed\, just arrive dressed in a plain white shirt and ready to strike a pose. Photos are on a first come first serve basis –   you’ll arrive to fill out a model release\, complete payment\, and receive the famed duct tape and NOH8 temporary tattoo to complete the signature NOH8 look! All money raised at this event goes towards the continued fight for human equality\, anti-discrimination and anti-bullying.
