Come join Whale & Dolphin Conservation (WDC) staff on a guided walk down to a secluded beach location to view seals resting and swimming in their natural environment. During the walk\, our experts will share fun facts about our flippered friends\, why they are important to the environment\, what species you can find during different seasons and much more. \nThe walk is only a few minutes down to the water\, so this event is suitable for children and adults\, but please note\, we will be walking on uneven terrain/paths. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars for up-close viewing but are not required as we have some available to use. Seals are usually still able to be seen without binoculars. Photographs are welcome! \nPARKING: WDC staff will meet attendees at the bottom parking lot. If the bottom lot is full\, please park up across the street at the additional trail lot. All art supplies are provided\, and everyone will leave with up to four handmade cards to take home and exchange with your favorite Valentines. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks to keep the young artists fueled up for creation. There is a small cost of $10 per participant\, discounted to $5 if you are a member. DESCRIPTION:When the weather gets cold and blustery\, we humans wrap ourselves in seasonal clothing and spend more time cozied up in heated homes under piles of blankets or beside a warm fire. But what do our animal neighbors do once the temperature drops?  Learn how mammals\, birds\, insects and reptiles survive the winter at the Duxbury Free Library on Friday December 27th at 10:30am. Wildlife photographer Joy Marzolf from Joys of Nature will be in the Merry Room with live animal guests to talk about the cold weather survival tactics our creature friends use to make it through the long\, cold season. This program is thirty minutes long and is ideal for children ages 5 and up to attend with their caregivers. Please register through the Duxbury Free Library’s website.

DESCRIPTION:The Winter season brings new enchantment to Soule Homestead.  On December 13th and  14th experience the magical Luminaria Walk when the nature trails at Soule become a beautifully atmospheric pathway aglow with candles  and an immersive storywalk about the winter solstice.  This is a captivating and unique experience is  wonderful for all ages\, starts at 5pm\, and embarks in groups limited to 15 people\, running in 20-minute increments. The last walk is at 7:45. It is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. The cost is only $5 for children up to age 12\, and the price includes a lantern craft activity to help light the path along the way. Adult tickets are$8 and include  a free cocoa or coffee. Additional refreshments\, such as soup and s’mores will be for sale as well. All proceeds go towards the preservation of the  Homestead. .

On Wednesday November 6th\, from 3 to 4pm\, The Manomet Branch of the Plymouth Public Library invites you to Living with Wildlife a talk about commonly encountered animals we share our outdoor space with here in Massachusetts; like deer\, beaver\, raccoons\, and more.  Also discussed will be the relationships these creatures have with the spaces they inhabit\, both wild and developed\, and best practices we humans can implement to better live in peaceful coexistence and be DEER friends to our wildlife neighbors. This class is free and open to everyone.  Registration is required\, which you can do through the Mass Audubon website. The Plymouth Manomet Branch is at 12 Strand Avenue.

SUMMARY:Stargazing Night Walk at the Soule Homestead
DESCRIPTION:Soule Homestead invites you to marvel and stare on November 2nd from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on a Stargazing Night Walk at the farm. Jamie Kern\, Bridgewater State University’s Observation Manager will guide stargazers through trails and down to the back fields to discuss and experience the heavenly bodies visible from the homestead.  After the walk\, you’ll get to look through telescopes in the fields behind the classroom. With weather allowing\, there will be a bonfire\, and s’more kits available for purchase. Bring your flashlight and bug spray\, with appropriate shoes on your feet to experience this wondrous adventure. The cost for members is $10 for adults\, $5 for children. Non-members pay $15 and $10. SUMMARY:Kickoff to Seaside Trail StoryWalk to Tidy by Emily Gravett
DESCRIPTION:The book Tidy by award winning author Emily Gravett has environmental preservation and sustainability at its heart.  On Saturday October 5th\, Tidy will be transformed into an immersive StoryWalk experience along the North Plymouth Seaside Trail\, the 1.2 mile path connecting Nelson and Cordage Parks. Kicking off at Nelson Park at 10:00 AM\, you will be able to walk along the trail while learning about all the elements and wildlife that surround you as you also follow the story of Pete the badger\, whose need for neatness causes a chain reaction of environmental consequences. StoryWalk will be up until Monday\, November 4th. The trail is both stroller and wheelchair friendly!  \nThis Story Walk project is a partnership between Plymouth Public Library\, Plymouth Open Space Committee\, Sustainable Plymouth and Plymouth’s Department of Energy and Environment.
