DESCRIPTION:At some point in our lives\, it’s likely we all have experienced sweaty palms\, our heart beating a little too fast for comfort\, and the feeling of panic tightening our throats just before taking a test. Thankfully\, there are practices that can be implemented starting at an early age to help make the test taking experience less harrowing for kids with anxiety. On Tuesday September 17th\, from 4 to 5pm\, the Pembroke Public Library invites kids and their caretakers to Tackling Test Anxiety\, to hear local author Kathleen Jeffrey read her new book “Katie’s Really Bad Day\,” and discuss some methods to calm test anxiety in young children. Kids will get to practice with breathing boards and discuss their own experiences with test anxiety. Best for children aged 5 to 8 years old\, this event will take place in the Meeting Room. DESCRIPTION:Learn about voter education in a magical\, engaging way with Illusionist Lyn Dillies\, the pioneer and creator of Your Vote is Magic\, a non-partisan mission Lyn developed in honor of her late father\, Calvin Dillies. \nHer dad taught her at an early age that every vote mattes and people working together can create change. Lyn conjured up a ground breaking illusion to kick off her innovative Get Out The Vote campaign…she made two political mascots appear out of thin air\, a live donkey and elephant! She wrote a book about the experience with an overview on voting history and eventually combined her award winning magical skills with her lecturing ability and created an assembly for high schools and libraries to teach high schoolers and citizens the importance of voting and the sacrifice it took for us to have our precious right to vote.
