SUMMARY:Project Gurnet & Bug Light History Talk
DESCRIPTION:Our community is home to two storied lighthouses – Bug Light and Gurnet Light. Protecting mariners from the dangerous shoal off Saquish Head\, Bug Light dates back to 1871\, and Gurnet light\, built in 1768\, housed the first female lighthouse keeper\, Hannah Thomas\, during the Revolutionary War. Visit The Kingston Council on Aging on Tuesday May 20th at 10:30am for an enlightening history talk led by Project Gurnet & Bug Light\, a nonprofit that maintains and preserves these historic beacons – including a full restoration project of Bug Light beginning this year. Registration is required – Call the senior center to reserve your spot.
