DESCRIPTION:Duxbury Free Library together with the Duxbury Senior Center are pleased to present “An Afternoon of Poems by Robert Frost” on Wednesday\, October 9th at 2:30 pm. This unique\, interactive performance by Stephen Collins will first introduce the life of this complex\, dichotomous\, and often misunderstood poet\, and then invite participants to join a discussion of a selection of Frost’s poems. The poems to be discussed are “A Tuft of Flowers”\, “Mending Wall”\, “Birches”\, “After Apple Picking”\, “Acquainted with the Night” and “Desert Places.” The performance will end with Collins doing a dramatic reading of “The Death of the Hired Man.” The show is about an hour and a half long and will be at the Duxbury Senior Center at 10 Mayflower Street in Duxbury. SUMMARY:Honoring Women's Health Talk - Pembroke Council on Aging
DESCRIPTION:Women become more prone to urinary tract infections as they age – by age 65\, one in ten women experience a UTI at least once a year\, and by age 85 the number jumps to one in three. Recognizing the symptoms and receiving early treatment is key to avoiding significant complications.  On Tuesday October 15th the Pembroke Council on Aging is hosting Honoring Women’s Health\, a one-hour program on prevention and symptom identification.  Speaker Roseann Potter\, R.N\, B.S.N\, will teach you how to recognize the signs of UTI induced dementia\, how to advocate for yourself at the doctor’s office and the most effective ways to prevent infections. The presentation starts at 10am and takes place at the Pembroke Community Center. There will be a Q & A session and helpful materials to bring home with you.

You’ll create a a one-of-kind “treescape\,” :  a decorative “window” inspired by the beloved Christmas tree and decorated using your choice of items from a varied and vast selection of trinkets and treasures.  Using a 2-part epoxy resin that will be cured overnight to create a permanent design\, your 11X14 window art will take two hours to make\, last a lifetime\, and cost only $25 per person.  All materials will be provided\, but you can choose to bring some personal decorative items to add as well\, if you like.
