Artists hail from Plymouth\, the Pine Hills and over 30 regional towns. \nThere will also be live music featuring Bruce Fletcher\, Colette O’Connor\, Mike Doyle\, Jim Sharkey and Abigail Vail. Additional family exhibits includes Child’s Ply Alpaca\, Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners\, face painter Sybil Kaplan and a rocking boat to be created on site by South Shore Boatworks. There will also be a feature of custom LEGO creations. \nFood options include Artisan Pig\, Del’s Lemonade and a beer garden hosted by Second Wind Brewery. \nParking is available at 5 different sites with a courtesy shuttle provided. SUMMARY:Animated Film Festival at Duxbury Senior Center
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday August 22nd the Duxbury Senior Center is hosting an Animated Film Festival celebrating the animated films of beloved British artist Raymond Briggs. Although Briggs himself never animated his work\, his illustrations inspired animators worldwide who thoughtfully brought books such as The Bear and The Snowman to life on the big screen\, lovingly capturing the vulnerable aspects of humanity\, truth and compassion Briggs poured into the tone and feel of his work.  The night will be facilitated by storyteller and educator Beth Camron Kilbridge. The Animated Film Festival will begin at 1pm in the Large Classroom at the Senior Center.  There are limited seats and registration is required for this fantastic and free celebration of visual storytelling. Get your motor running and head out onto Water Street from 10 to 2\, when auto enthusiasts from all over the South Shore will show off their classic and modern hot rods\, muscle cars and exotic custom creations at the Rebels and Rods Car Show. At 4pm\, make a splash at Brewster Gardens for the Duckie Dash Race\, where you can buy a rubber duckie to cheer on in a race through Town Brook – cash prizes awarded to the swiftest swimmers! This event will be in concert with The Plymouth Bay Cultural District’s Annual Porchfest\, featuring local musicians taking the stage on porches\, yards and driveways all over the Downtown district. Some of downtown’s most delectable eats are within walking distance\, making this an ideal place to enjoy an after-dinner drink\, or even better– grab a take-out dinner and bring it to enjoy at the beer garden! A portion of every beverage sale goes to the Plymouth Antiquarian Society to help support and maintain one of Plymouth’s finest architectural examples of Federal period architecture.
