The Duxbury Rural & Historical Society invites you to attend a lecture on The US Sanitary Commission and Civil War Veterans, a presentation by Dr. Patrick Browne.
Dr. Browne will focus primarily on Frederick N Knapp’s development of the Special Relief Department within the US Sanitary Commission, and how this department helped to quell a humanitarian crisis of discharged Union soldiers too injured or incapacitated to care for themselves by providing them support and care. The lecture will be held on Thursday, November 14th at 5:00 PM at the Drew Archival Library located at 147 St. George Street. Please register ahead of time through the Duxbury Rural & Historical Society website.
