The Joy Of Composting – Turning Garbage Into Gold at the Pembroke Public Library

To quote the beloved reveler in rubbish Oscar the Grouch, “Trash is the true essence of life.” Visit the Pembroke Public Library on August 22nd to learn to bring lushness to your backyard garden by harnessing the lifeforce of garbage. Ann McGovern will present The Joy of Composting – Turning Garbage into Gold, a talk on how your food scraps and yard waste can be turned into nutrient rich compost that will help your garden grow. Learn the basics of composting, including how to select the right method, balance green and brown materials, manage moisture, aeration, and general troubleshooting. Ann was a composting outreach specialist for the Mass Department of Environmental Protection for 32 years, and in her retirement is enjoying continuing to share the dirt on dirt. The presentation is from 2:30 to 3:30 at the library and welcomes green thumbs and everyone else. Visit the library website to register.
