Quadricentennial Cannon Ceremonial Send Off at Pilgrim Hall Museum

Quadricentennial Cannon Gets a Home After Pandemic Delay Wednesday , Wednesday, May 28th Pilgrim Hall Museum, 75 Court Street, Plymouth, MA

Plymouth, MA -In spring 2020, members of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts (chartered 1638) and the Honourable Artillery Company of London (chartered 1537) were poised to present a gift to the Town of Plymouth as a highlight of the town’s 400th Anniversary Commemoration: a replica cannon, the Quadricentennial Guernsey Falcon, to be installed on historic Burial Hill. The event, cancelled during the Covid pandemic, is now set to take place, five years later, on May 28th and May 31st.

On Wednesday, May 28th at 8 am at Pilgrim Hall Museum, 75 Court Street, the Museum Board of Trustees is hosting a ceremonial send off for the cannon, which has occupied Pilgrim Hall Museum’s lobby for nearly five years. The public is invited to enjoy coffee and pastries and watch as the cannon gets on its way to its original destination on Burial Hill. On Saturday, May 31st, the official dedication of the cannon will take place, beginning on the Town Hall Green, 26 Court Street, at 10 am and proceeding to Burial Hill for the unveiling ceremonies.
