The LGBTQIA+ community is vibrant and beautifully diverse, but unfortunately, it’s also united by a shared experience – discrimination. The ability to physically defend and protect oneself as a Queer person is imperative, because this community is at a statistically much higher risk of facing unprovoked violence in their everyday lives. On Tuesday, January 7th, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Plymouth Pride invites you to a one-time only LGBTQIA+ Beginner Self Defense Class at the Plymouth Public Library. There, instructor Stevie Downie will teach you basic defense skills so you can protect yourself in an emergency situation. This free 18+ event is running as a part of Plymouth Pride’s ongoing “First Tuesday” events that are held every month as a way for the LGBTQ+ community to come together. For more information on this and other events visit the Plymouth Pride Facebook page.
