MLK Jr. Weekend – Service, Luncheon, Speaker and Choir event organized by Plymouth No Place for Hate

Organized by the Plymouth No Place for Hate Committee, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend is a powerful event series intended to bring the community together to honor, reflect on and be inspired by Martin Luther King Jr’s  legacy of nonviolent protest and fight for justice and equality for all. It begins on Friday January 17th at 7pm with the documentary “I Am MLK, Jr.” at the Plimoth Patuxet Museum movie theater. The film is an overview on the life and impact on civil rights Dr. Martin Luther King continues to have to this day. Saturday January 18th will be a day dedicated to service, with a town-wide food drive. From 9am to 1pm you can drop your non-perishable food items off at any of three collection sites–The Market at Pinehills, Clements Market, or the Church of the Pilgrimage. All food collected will be distributed to the food banks at Christ Church, American Legion, Salvation Army, Second Church in Manomet, and Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless. Sunday January 19th events will be held at Plymouth Church of the PilgrimageThe day begins with a Ecumenical worship service at 10:30 AM.There will be a light luncheon at 12pm and from 1pm – 3pm enjoy a program featuring Plymouth Middle School Choir, essay contest winners, and featured speaker President and CEO of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, Rev.Rahsaan D. Hall, Esq. If you would like to attend the luncheon you must register through the No Place For Hate website. Voluntary donations of non-perishable food items for local food pantries will be collected at the door at all events. I’ll be there, too, with the Local Seen street team, so step up to the mic and say hi
