Film Screening: Saving The Whale

A special screening of the documentary Saving the Right Whale, followed by a discussion with a local whale scientist about what is being done here in Massachusetts to help right whales.

Saving the Right Whale shares the story of North Atlantic right whales, a critically endangered whale that lives off of Massachusetts’ coast. These gentle giants were once common off the MA coast, but were hunted to near extinction during the era of whaling. Today, with only 370 right whales left, they face threats from fishing gear entanglement and boat strikes. By highlighting the plight of this species, perhaps more public support will be shown for their conservation.

This film is 1 1/2 hours long, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.
